Dubai
A Dream Holiday Location
Situated on the Persian Gulf, party surrounded by desert, Dubai is a city of opportunity both for business people and tourists. Since the formation of the Arab Emirates back in the 1970s, Dubay has become a major commercial centre in the Middle East, and has become home to a fascinating multi- cultural population of people of both Eastern and Western origin. Historically significant due to its position on the trade route to India, Dubai is still an important port. however, people nowadays come to dubai for a variety of reasons, often combining business with pleasure in a city that offers a wide diversity of entertainment and high quality accommodation.
Dubai has an excellent climate all year, making it a perfect destination for tourists in search of sunshine, fun and relaxation. Its white sandy beaches and crystal waters provide the ideal setting for those who want to escape the cold, dark northern winters. As well as lazing in the sun, there are many water sports, such as diving and sailing, to prevent anyone from becoming bored. What' s more, those wishing to escape the hustle and bustle of the city can experience safari and camel treks across the vast Arabian Desert, an area completely undisturbed by man.
For winter sports enthusiasts, Dubai even has a snow park, a huge sports complex with real snow. Here it is possible to practice all kinds of snow sports such as skiing and snowboarding, and there are facilities for beginners as well as more advanced winter sports enthusiasts. It also gives non- skiers or families with young children a chance to play in the snow, go tobogganing and explore an ice cave. It is difficult to imagine that snow never melts in the middle of the desert, but it seems that in Dubai, anything is possible.
There are many types of hotels in the city, including the tallest hotel in the world situated on its own exclusive island. Currently under construction is the largest hotel in the world which will have over 6000 rooms on completion. Many of Dubai's hotels have first class restaurants and health spas and are all famous for their excellent service. In fact, Dubai is the only city in the world with a seven star hotel! Another adventurous project is that of a revolving skyscraper which, when finished, will make a complete 360 degree turn once a week, ensuring the people living in its 200 apartments never become tired of their view!
As well as its impressive architecture, business opportunities and entertainment, Dubai has long been famous for its tax- free goods. To accommodate the tastes of even the most discriminating buyer, there are many luxurious boutigues and shopping malls, offering everything from designer clothes to perfume and jewellery, all at attractive prices. For a more authentic experience, there is the gold bazaar where prices are not fixed, so customers can argue about the price. Such bargaining is certainly good fun! Dubai, it seems, has so much variety to offer that everyone who visits it will feel richer for the experience.
